PRUNE

"Prune – prune businesses, products, activities, people. Do it annually." – Donald Rumsfeld

Your motivation Monday is brought to you by the word PRUNE.

Prune what? How? Why? In other words LET IT GO.

Today I challenge you to let go (or prune) of what no longer serves you. Whether it is a certain habit that is holding you back, a certain emotion or thought, a relationship, a friendship, a job, activities, materialistic things, etc.

When we hang onto things, people, thoughts, habits that no longer serve us they hold us back and prevent us from moving on, growing, and achieving our goals. Yes, this can be a lot easier said then done, but the first step it to reflect upon the things above and ask yourself "Where do you need to do some pruning?".

How do you go about this?

Start with one thing at a time, or go all in. Whatever works best for you as it can depend on what you're letting go of. Somethings take a bit more time and work, somethings you just need to cut it right away. Just breath, trust, love, and know that everything will turn out better than you expected. It may be an everyday practice, but it'll get easier and easier to do this. And you CAN do this.

Why?

Simply because it has served it's purpose for you. It no longer has value to you. It's holding you back. It's not letting you grow. You've gotten all you can out of it. You've given all you can to it. Understand and learn from every experience and relationship but let it go so you can get on with your life being the best you can be.

Now go prune those roses, and watch to see those roses grow back more beautiful than the season before.

Have a beautiful day and shine bright!

Some of my favorite "pruning" quotes.

“As the gardener, by severe pruning, forces the sap of the tree into one or two vigorous limbs, so should you stop off your miscellaneous activity and concentrate your force on one or a few points” -Ralph Waldo Emerson

"Everything has seasons, and we have to be able to recognize when something's time has passed and be able to move into the next season. Everything that is alive requires pruning as well, which is a great metaphor for endings." -Henry Cloud

"Clarity is the most important thing. I can compare clarity to pruning in gardening. You know, you need to be clear. If you are not clear, nothing is going to happen. You have to be clear. Then you have to be confident about your vision. And after that, you just have to put a lot of work in."
-Diane Von Furstenberg

"Often he who does too much does too little." – Italian Proverb

"Measure a thousand times and cut once." – Turkish Proverb

"Most people have no idea of the giant capacity we can immediately command when we focus all of our resources on mastering a single area of our lives." – Anthony Robbins
